Sarah was 30 and pregnant with her son, when she was involved in a RTA. When he was born in February 1996 with severe cerebral palsy, which doctors said was caused by his brain failing to develop after the accident. He is severely physically disabled, will need constant care and is not expected to live beyond his early 20s.
The QC, representing the boy's father, who brought the action, told Mr Justice for the defence in London that the boy was still able to relate to his family around him and was "a much loved child".
The judge accepted the settlement lump sum figure which will be used to start a fund to pay for the boy's care throughout his life.
The parents accepted a £1,624,000 settlement at the High Court.
