Joe was a self-employed carpenter working on a construction site in the housing sector when he was involved in an accident. Joe suffered injuries and later stress-related illness when faulty scaffolding caused him to fall 20ft.
Solicitors working on Joe’s behalf launched court proceedings against the controller of the site and the scaffolding contractors to recover compensation for Joe’s injuries and his loss of earnings.
Before the case made it to trial, a settlement was negotiated on liability of the two defendants.
During the proceedings Joe’s team commissioned the expert evidence of an orthopaedic consultant, a neurologist, a neuropsychologist, a neurophysiologist and a neuroradiologist.
Joe was awarded £270,000 from the site controller, and £90,000 from the scaffolding contractors.
