Andy, 38, was riding his scooter to work one morning when a car did a U turn in a side road and pulled out in front of him. There was nothing Andy could do to avoid the accident.
Andy was immediately taken to hospital where he was found to have 2 crushed vertebrae, tinnitus in both ears, a possible fracture to the pelvis, dizziness and psychological problems. Thankfully Andy’s injuries were kept to a minimum because he was wearing thick safety clothes which were necessary for his job as a manual worker.
Andy could not return to work for over two years and had to rely on his family to provide care and assistance. Andy’s marriage even failed as a result of the stress caused by his accident.
Andy was awarded compensation for his injuries three years after his accident. At this time he was still receiving medical treatment but he was happy to be slowly returning to a normal life.
