Jane | Paragliding accident
Three years ago Jane was airlifted to hospital following a horrific paragliding accident. She had bought a paragliding fun day for her husband's birthday treat. After only two practice jumps Jane found herself jumping off the top of a hill. As she hurtled to the ground she applied the brake but the paraglider stalled and dropped out of the sky. Jane was lucky to escape with a fracture to one of the vertebrae in her neck.
Another customer of the same paragliding instructor was rendered paraplegic in a similar accident. The instructor's licence was withdrawn for 2 years but it was then discovered that he simply carried on operating under a different company name.
Jane's story does have a happy ending, as she was awarded a damages settlement of £32,500. This award came shortly after the birth of a baby girl, a first child for Jane and her husband Don.
