Victim of radiotherapy overdose to sue
A 15 year old cancer sufferer who was given a massive overdose of radiotherapy will sue the local health board responsible.
Lisa Norris was administered with overdoses at all 17 radiotherapy sessions she attended. Doctors have admitted that the overdose, which was a result of human error, will result in a best case scenario of Lisa being paralysed or in a wheelchair, and a worst case scenario of her death.
The Greater Glasgow NHS is launching an external investigation into the incident but it is thought to be an isolated case and no other patients have been affected.
If successful, the case is expected to result in damages running into the millions.
