Personal injury on quad bike

Steve Hewitt is bringing a compensation claim against Jon Hunt, the owner of Foxtons estate agents. The claim arises from an accident which happened in July 2001 on Mr Hunt's estate. Mr Hewitt and some friends had been invited by Mr Hunt to go quad biking on his estate. Mr Hewitt says he was shown how to use the bike but not given a helmet.

He says that he followed Mr Hunt's example and drove off at high speed, when without warning the ground gave way to a steep drop causing him to fall from the bike and sustain a serious shoulder injury.

Mr Hewitt says that he has been unable to work since the accident and consequently he is claiming up to £2,000,000 in damages. This reflects amongst other losses arising from the accident, what Mr Hewitt says is the long term loss of profits from his successful business manufacturing and erecting signs for Foxtons. Mr Hunt denies liability for the accident.
