Ibuprofen link with heart attacks
A recent British Medical Journal has published an article from Nottingham University which links non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen with heart attacks. The study looked at 9218 patients who had suffered a heart attack and found that those who had been taking ibuprofen in the three months before the heart attack were at a 24% higher risk of a heart attack.
Another of this class of drugs, Diclofenac, led to a 55% increase.
Larger trials have been called for because Ibuprofen is a drug used by millions of people suffering with arthritis.
