Hospital neglect | negligence
A former lord provost Norman Irons has accused a Scottish hospital of killing his mother through neglect.
Mr Irons wrote a letter to the Health Minister, Andy Kerr outlining his disgust at the level of care his Mother had received.
Some of the details Mr Irons described regarding his Mother's lack of care included: non-monitoring of her nutrition and fluid intake, lack of overall hygiene with regards to bathing and showering and clinical waste was left at her bedside. Mr Irons summed these up as 'neglect' on the part of the hospital.
The chairman of the NHS Lothian University Hospital has said that an investigation is ongoing.
