Death from hypercalcaemia misdiagnosis

A 21 year old boy died from a heart attack due to misdiagnosed severe hypercalcaemia.

The boy initially suffered from back pain – lack of accurate communication between physicians meant that no further blood tests were done.

The removal of a small tumour in his neck could have saved his life.
