Erbs Palsy Claims
Injury+ clinical negligence solicitors and litigation lawyers have the expertise to win erbs palsy claims.
Erbs Palsy is a condition which often results from the baby's shoulder becoming stuck in the mother's pelvis - known as shoulder dystocia - during the course of delivery. It is a particular risk in large babies and for mothers with diabetes. Injury is caused to a nerve in the shoulder, the brachial plexus. Those affected by the condition have limited mobility in their shoulder which in turn affects their ability to use the affected arm.
Brachial plexus injuries of this type can often be avoided if midwives and obstetric recognise cases where there is a particular risk of shoulder dystocia and arrange for caesarean section or use well recognised procedures to release the shoulder in the event of shoulder dystocia.
Injury+ solicitors have the expertise to investigate cases on behalf of families.
We often find that the risk has not been recognized or medical professionals have not used the correct procedures. In these cases we are able to obtain compensation for the injuries suffered. The compensation can include funds for adaptations to allow the child to use everyday items both now and in the future.
